Testimonial from Nan Feng’s Student: Tan Xiao Wei
“I have known Nan Feng since my days in National Junior College (NJC) Canoeing in 2013. Back then, she was a senior of mine and was always very encouraging during our training sessions. Her bubbly character brought numerous smiles upon our faces despite the toughness of trainings. It was always a joy to train with her because she would make training like a mini competition, setting targets for all of us to hit.
I remembered that on my very first land training exercise (3x1000m hard run), my lungs were burning so badly from its intensity, but what kept me going was her constant words of encouragement, which only motivated me to push myself beyond my threshold.
She definitely played a key role in the amazing experience I had in NJ Canoeing and was indeed very inspirational. With that, I decided to continue the sport in National University of Singapore (NUS) Canoe Sprint Team and it was fortunate that she was also coaching the NUS team, which I could never be more thankful for.
I could always be sure that with her excellent guidance and creativity, she would always make training a memorable and enjoyable session despite its intensity. She also builds excellent rapport with the team and this perhaps explains why she could relate to us so well on the water and she surely knows the best way to help us improve. Her guidance and knowledge have made her one of the best coaches to have around. Thank you Nan Feng for making me who I am today!”
