Testimonial by Jake’s Student: Derek Lim
I had always wanted to get fit and able to play the sports (Run, Swim, Tennis etc)I enjoy. But my health issues have taken a toll on my fitness journey.
In 2010, I was diagnosed with having a heart issue and had to go through a double heart-bypass. My heart condition did not improve for the following years despite numerous minor surgeries to have stents in my clotted arteries. I was engulfed with anguish and disappointment. During my recovery, I am unable to do any form of exercise for fear of triggering more complications to my body.
To make matters worse, in the Year 2014, I had a slipped disc and had to go through another operation. On top of not doing exercises, I now could not carry anything heavy for fear of a relapsed on my back.
So for the past 8 to 9 years, I was basically a non-active person who is always envious when I see people able to do sports and exercises.
Then in January 2018, I went through another stent surgery and was on 6 weeks medical leave. On my second week of medical leave, I chanced upon the information of Jake via Instagram from a mutual friend. I decided I need to do something to my life and subsequently had a conversation with him and engage his service.
From the first session in February 2018, I have never looked back
I’ve been training with Jake for almost 9 months now, and believe he is one of the most experienced & committed coaches around. I started training twice a week and Jake is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun).
My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more core exercises, lift progressively heavier kettlebells & generally push myself harder throughout each session. I find I actually look forward to my workouts.
– Jake ensures that my technique is always correct to avoid any injuries.
– Jake is extremely reliable and always with an exercise routine planned.
I thoroughly enjoy working out in the outdoor environment and would recommend Jake to anyone looking to improve their fitness.
To top it all, I had beginning to run, which is something I thought I never got to do after my back injury.
Thank you, Jake, for all the coaching and guidance. I am excited about my goals that we collectively aim to achieve.
